Alterra opened its doors in 2007 amidst one of the worst housing recessions our country has ever seen. Headquartered in Las Vegas, NV, Alterra witnessed one of the hardest hit housing markets in the nation and quickly identified a problem that needed solving: The homeownership gap between non-minority and minority households was quickly growing as less minority families were being afforded the chance at their American dream.

We set out to close this homeownership gap by providing innovative solutions that used the best parts of our standard products in conjunction with industry partners who joined our mission to close the homeownership gap in the U.S. by providing new solutions to problems that were left unsolved. Our commitment to our communities has propelled Alterra to be recognized as one of the industry leaders in creating products that uncovered new opportunities for families who were usually turned away due to their unique situations.
